What is hypnosis, and how can you use it to make positive changes in your life?

Hypnosis is a natural mental state into which your mind enters many times during each and every day. It's that special place where you go, when you're moving from being awake to falling asleep. When you are hypnotized, you may feel very relaxed or very focused on one thing to the exclusion of all others. You are in a hypnotic state when you are watching a movie or television program. You may be in hypnosis when you are driving your car and you are so focused on something on the side of the road that you forget to take the correct exit. You are hypnotized when you stare out across a peaceful lake or focus on the sound and the rhythm of the waves at your favorite beach.

Your mind functions on two levels. The conscious mind is the part of you which allows you to solve problems and deal with the external world. It controls about 10% of the decisions that you make. The subconscious mind is the depository for all of your thoughts, impressions, experiences and feelings. It controls 90% of the choices that you make. You make poor decisions when the information in your subconscious mind is flawed or inaccurate. When you are in a very relaxed state, the door between your conscious and subconscious minds opens, and you become very suggestible. By using the technique of hypnosis, the thought forms in your subconscious mind can be transformed, so that you subsequently make healthier and wiser decisions.
